God made tea.
In the first chapter of Genesis, God says: “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.” (Gen 1:29, ESV) This is where every tea story began. Chapter 2 of Genesis further elaborates on the design of vegetation as being “pleasant to the sight and good for food.” In his wisdom and love, God has provided for our health and enjoyment an abundance of vegetation, including a variety of teas, herbs and spices. My father was born and raised on a tea plantation, on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka (then known as Ceylon). He grew up with the tradition of tea. Every afternoon, work was set aside for rest and refreshment, for the enjoyment of each other’s company. Teatime. |
My siblings and I grew up with the same traditions of tea. And over the years, we’ve had opportunities to taste amazing teas from other lands, through folks we’ve met from around the world. It’s been a privilege to experience their culture, through their tea. A hot cup of tea is a wonderful thing. It’s been a joy for our family to share our collection of teas with those who come through our home, and now, we want to share it with you. Thank you for visiting the Tea Shoppe, may it be a blessing to you and yours. Sincerely, Jebi, for the Koilpillai Family |
